My Commencement Address
No one has asked me to speak at their graduation (ahem, yet). And understandably so. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars, the students parents want some return on their investment with a big-name speaker at the commencement ceremony. And fair enough! However, a high-profile speaker might not have the industry-specific advice that I do. This is what I would say to the Class of '12 Creatives:
Now that you are leaving the security of your college campus you will be facing new opportunities and new challenges. If you are able to view every challenge as an opportunity, I can guarantee that you will be a happier person. I can't guarantee success, but your attitude as you go through life will be the difference in whether life's challenges suck the life from you, or breathe new life in.
